“A sissy!”

In the space between the Masca theater buildings (yes, there are two of them, and they hide many fascinating nooks and crannies, with all sorts of props, reading spaces for actors and, above all, plants!), I found a vanilla orchid! A plant from south-eastern Mexico, it’s the only orchid to produce edible fruit.
Alina Crăiță, an actress in the theater troupe, calls her “fussy”, and over the years she has taken care of her and taught her the signs of thirst, overheating, dryness. In the video, Alina tells us about orchids and their needs during the first Masca’s Landscape Workshop, as we walk through the space that will be transformed into the theater’s greenhouse with the help of the workshop participants – I told you there are many fascinating corners! Those who came to the workshop not only got a tour of the theater but also cuttings from the plants that are cared for here. A small part of the Mask is at home now.
Soon you’ll all be able to visit them – we’re opening the doors (and leaving them open) during the mini-neighborhood festival, September 20-22. The festival will feature a showcase of community activities about responsibility for art and nature. There you’ll be able to see first-hand the recycled furniture-installation sets, the newly planted garden and greenhouse, and the new theater mural! How do you get in? Donate a plant 🙂
See you soon,
Alina
