Based on a number of interviews with residents of a residential neighborhood in the city of Caen, Joël Pommerat explores in ten short scenes the complex relationships between parents and children. The angles of approach differ from scene to scene, but they have in common the gray zone where fulfillment and disappointment, past and future, love and hope meet. Despite the differences in age, emotional baggage or social background, the characters who inhabit this gray zone and the situations in which we find them expose the fragility of the “basic cell of society”.
